Gender Reveal Cakes: Pink or Blue?

Let the cake make the big announcement. Choose pink or blue borders, and everyone finds out the moment they see the cake.

One colour, top and bottom. Choose the same colour for both borders, so the answer is clear at a glance.
Keep it a surprise. Whoever orders chooses the colours. If the parents-to-be want to find out with everyone else, let the friend or family member who knows place the order.

Tip: Choose “Congratulations!” or no message, so the words don’t give the secret away.

Build Your Shower Cake

You choose everything in our order form. If you’re unsure about anything, just choose your best option, and we’ll follow up.

Size: From a 6″ heart or baby round (serves 3–4) to a large square (serves 15–20). Slab cakes for big groups. A small slab serves 25–30, and a large slab serves 35–40+.
Flavour: Eight flavour profiles, including Merla-Mae’s Original, Oreo, Turtle, Skor and Strawberry
Borders: Top and bottom borders in pink, blue, yellow, green or whip cream (white), or chocolate fudge, red or purple
Decorations: Balloons, flowers, chocolate bars, cookies, fruits, a smiley face or decorator’s choice, with or without a chocolate drip
Message: “Congratulations!”, your own words, or no message at all

Add a build-your-own sundae bar, milkshakes for the group or take-home treats. Tell us how many are coming, and we’ll let you know what we can put together.

How far ahead should I order a baby shower cake?

Orders placed through our online order form need at least 24 hours’ notice, and you pick your cake up at the shop any time after 11:00 am. In a time crunch? Call (519) 438-CAKE: in many cases, we can prepare your custom cake within 3–4 hours. We also have ready-made ice cream cakes and pies in-store daily.

What size cake do I need for the shower?

Our cakes serve 3 to 40+. A large round or a 9″ heart serves 12–14, and a large square serves 15–20. A small slab serves 25–30, and a large slab serves 35–40+.

How does a gender reveal cake keep the secret?

Whoever places the order chooses the colours. If the parents-to-be want to be surprised too, let the friend or family member who knows order the cake with pink or blue borders, and choose “Congratulations!” or no message so the words don’t give it away.

Can you put a photo on the cake?

Yes. Upload your photo in the order form, bring it in, or email it to cakes@merlamae.com. We print it onto a special edible paper and build your ice cream cake around it. A cake photo is optional and costs extra.

Do you have peanut-free or gluten-free cakes?

We offer peanut-free and gluten-free ice cream cakes upon request, so list any allergies in the order form. We can’t guarantee safety for a serious nut allergy, but when we’re notified we sanitize the work area before use and are as careful as possible. Read our allergy information.
